I went to an orthopedist yesterday. For the last couple of months my knees have had a slight cracking sensation when I’ve moved them in particular directions (although no pain), so I decided to see someone. After X-raying my knees, the doctor told me I had the best set of X-rays he’d seen in six months. It turns out the cracking sensation is from a weakness in a particular muscle on each knee. So he’s sending me to physical therapy for eight visits for (and I quote from the prescription) “quad strengthening exercises for min[or] patella subluxation.” I don’t need surgery (whew)!
Sigh… it’s always something with me. It really is.
Maybe you should start going to the gym and doing some leg-strengthening exercises? Then you can have your own gym tales. :)
I know that’s no fun. Believe it or not, patellar subluxation is a common disorder for some dogs, and our little girl puppy has it. It’s definitely better to take care of it with exercise than to neglect it and then deal with the possible consequences, including arthritis.
Glad you don’t need surgery. Maybe he’s trying to get you to buy a medical dictionary. :}.
Are you kidding? That doctor saw you coming off the elevator. My advice: Screw the PT. Everybody has their knees pop as they get older. You are in fine shape, but likely a hypochondriac.
