According to my stack of Playbills, this the list of the shows I’ve seen so far this year:
January 18 – Regrets Only
February 8 – Follies at Encores!
February 11 – The Coast of Utopia, Part I
February 28 – 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2nd time; 1st time was Off-Broadway)
March 3 – Prelude to a Kiss
March 8 – Talk Radio
March 9 – Journey’s End
March 18 – Grey Gardens (2nd time; 1st time was Off-Broadway)
March 29 – The Coast of Utopia, Part II
April 8 – Legally Blonde
April 12 – LoveMusik
Also a production of Violet, in Brooklyn, that a member of my chorus was in.
This is actually not as many shows as I’d thought.
What did you think of Grey Gardens? I thought that the show as a whole was lackluster, although Christine Ebersoll was phenomenal.
How do you manage that, both in terms of time and money? I would love to see more theater, but I never have enough of either necessary commodity. :(
Chris: I loved Grey Gardens, both times. It’s a problematic show, doesn’t really have a conventional plot, but it really moves me.
Daniel: Matt’s a member of TDF and Play-by-Play, so we get cheap tickets to a lot of shows. As far as time: it doesn’t take much time to sit through a show!
I’m surprised Spring Awakening isn’t on the list!
Patrick and I are trying to make it to town to see it before any cast changes happen; I just can’t get enough of that album. But now I want your opinion before we spend the money and come…
It’s not on the list because I saw it in the fall. :)
And you of all people will love it.
