Okay, I don’t know what I was so worried about. Here it is. Enjoy.

As an article about blogs in general, it was, like, real general. And it hardly touched on the topic in its headline (post-09.11.01 commentary). Overall: bleehhhh.
But, hey, your quotes were good!
Congrats! You made McPaper!!!
Jeff, if you consider your blog “an attempt to bring some rationality to a completely irrational series of events,” then why isn’t that reflected in many of your posts? An inability–hey, let’s be honest–an UNWILLINGNESS to find joy and happiness in *anything* is hardly rational. There are several people out here who would like to have a good job in which they use their degree (or have a job at all right now), to receive the attention of an interested romantic partner regardless of gender (or hair color), to live in or near a city where opportunities for fun and growth are nearly limitless. You have all of that and more–and then you piss all over it on a daily basis, making what was once an entertaining online journal into a litany of soon-to-be-unreadable (by me, anyway) complaints, gripes and petty obsessions. Your lack of gratitude for the incredible things life is handing you makes me think that you not only CAN’T feel happiness, but perhaps you don’t DESERVE to feel happiness. If happiness is something that’s tangible and quantifiable and doled out in unequal amounts–why does your writing seem hell-bent on convincing your readers that it’s somehow wasted on you? Now THAT’S irrational.
OUCH, TB!!!
not only was that mean, but more importantly, quite WRONG!! I think it’s rather clear from reading well before 9/11, and since then, that TINMAN, like the rest of us, uses his BLOG to chronicle his UPS and DOWNS – I’ve certainly seen both, and have had the fortune to see how some of his insights apply to some of my own struggles with life – and yeah, he’s alive, has a job, etc etc, but is certainly entitled to air his struggles with his feelings, both good and bad – but to say that he’s trying to convince us that LIFE is wasted on him, is cruel, and just PLAIN WRONG!
I’m not going to use this venue to apologize for a comment that was meant as a genuine (not mean or cruel) response to what I have seen as a genuine trend here. I’m neither attacking Tinman’s absolute right to express his ups and downs on a web space that he pays for and maintains, nor am I suggesting that he writes as if “life is wasted” on him (unless “life” and “happiness” suddenly became synonyms when I wasn’t looking–I’m not sure where that connection comes in). I was simply offering my own commentary in a forum designed, it seemed, for just such a purpose. Next time I’ll just avoid the real issue, write “Count your blessings,” and leave it at that to spare the feelings of author and readers.
Wow, Jeff… now I understand why you briefly removed this feedback feature a while back.
No matter what your subject matter, one of the things that always comes shining through your words is the palpable joy you have for life.
I’d think anyone who appreciates good writing, or the spirit of one so eloquent, could see that.
You go, TinMan!
It took courage to do the interview! You did an EXCELLENT job! I hope you are proud! I certainly am inspired by YOU!
