  2. Well it’s a big IF – and the guy in the Voice article is just plain wrong about the similarities between 68 and now. He seems to forget that there is a HUGE difference in the culture of protest now. Back then it WAS a big deal to do it, and you were considered radical for merely participating. But look at last year’s huge demo in NYC against the war- tens of thousands wanted to be heard, and were. Unfortuantely the TV shows want to show just the loud mouths – either politicians or so-called anarchists. But the masses who will demonstrate this week are either anti-war, or anti-bush (oftne both) and that isn’t anything radical – more than helf the country is against us going to war now, and more than half the country believe this country is going in the wrong direction. Your subsequent post worrying about Keary’s chances/abilites in winning is much more important factor than what some protests could affect in either direction. BUSH WILL WIN unless Keary can convince a huge number of people that he is SIGNIFICANTLY better at dealing with the problems Bush has left us with (and can get them off their asses and to the polls). He has not come close to anything like that.

  3. You might have a point about the protests. But most people in the country will get their news through TV, and the mere fact that the media will focus on the most outrageous protests, and on any violence that occurs, is a big factor.

  4. ….. but there’s a difference between SEEING it on TV and it making a difference in HOW or WHETHER you vote. I just dont beleive that it is a factor in how folks vote, regardless of how they feel about protests, or the message of particular protestors.
