Bobbi Boland

“Bobbie Boland,” a Broadway play starring Farrah Fawcett, has closed in previews. Apparently it’s been 10 years since a Broadway show closed before its opening night. Wow. Cool.

I stopped by the TKTS booth in Times Square on Saturday evening, but there was nothing worth seeing. I’m pretty sure “Bobbi Boland” was one of the options listed, though. Now I kind of wish I’d seen it, just so I could have a Playbill. Then again, who knew.

Oh, well. I’ll always have “Carrie,” “Nick & Nora,” and “What’s Wrong With This Picture?”

Guess I’d better get a ticket for “Taboo.”

  1. Certainly not be included in the annals of great drama, BOBBI BOLAND was a pleasant surprise. A professional, well structured and skillfully written play with very good actors giving excellent performances and staged expertly. The author was going for a William Inge mood and somewhat succeeded. There was a gay bestfriend/neighbor realistically and sympathetically rendered by the writing and the actor. This type of Broadway theater is dated and died out in the 80s. NICE plays with faded stars are still big in London but HERE to succeed it must have BIG hook or gimmick. The audience did not seem pleased. “It’s like a bad Lifetime movie!” was overheard. Farrah Fawcett was well cast and delivered as the past beauty queen. I was expecting the worst and was mildy entertained. Had a freebie for Sunday’s matinee which ended up being the closing.
