Design Changes?

Lately I’ve been wanting to punch up my blog a little bit. I’m getting tired of the current design — I’ve had it for the last 14 months. I’m trying to decide whether to add MovableType categories; whether to separate my posts into two columns — one for quick Web links, and one for more lengthy entries; whether to get rid of the sidebar entirely and just have one central column of blog content; whether to increase the font size; whether to add more color or borders. I want a site that’s easy on the eyes, but with some personality as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’d appreciate it.

  1. l say a big no to categories. They give me nausea. Keep the sidebar and don’t change the font size either. You could add more colour perhaps…

  2. One of your strengths is the cleanliness of your design, so I’d keep most of it. The only thing I’d be tempted to change is the header graphic, and there I’d just tidy it up a bit.

  3. The changes you’ve made are nice. The simplicity of design makes your blog very attractive. What gives your site personality is not visual razzle dazzle. It’s your writing: your viewpoints, your stories, your theatre and movie reviews, your experiences, your hopes and aspirations, your humor … and all your words.
