And I can’t believe a two-bit tearjerker like Million Dollar Baby is taken seriously.
Liam Neeson was also robbed.
I feel your pain! what’s this fucking obsession they have with any and every piece of shit that comes out of Clint’s ass? You know he’s going to sweep the whole thing now. it makes me so mad!
i’m so happy about Virginia Madsen, but Giamatti was the soul of the movie. it was the performance of his lifetime, and he had such shitty luck that the field for lead actor was so crowded.
If Hillary Swank beats Annette Benning again i’m going to be pissed….
Though I love Imelda Staunton too.
Sorry but Eastwood earned and deserved that nomination with a career-capping performance, easily his best, that was as full bodied a piece of work as I’ve seen in a while onscreen.
To the naysaying Giamatti fans: Save your bile for Johnny Depp, whose tepid performance was fully unworthy of an Oscar nom in the face of superior work from Giamatti, Kevin Bacon, Jeff Bridges, Gael Garcia Bernal and Javier Bardem. Depp’s a golden boy among a sect of actors in the industry for a raft of great, quirky performances and his nom for this candybox piece of Miramax fluff is collateral damage from AMPAS’ attempts to compensate for the unfair snubs of the past (for ED WOOD, to name one).
