For some reason, I find this piece about a road trip home to New York right after 9/11 very moving.

It’s a good piece, but I think I’ve grown somewhat numb to it at this point. Laden with my own memories of seeing the towering smoke, learning of those who had died and going to memorial services, I think a part of me has just blocked any further emotions from it.
Of course, we’re having a memorial service at work tomorrow, and that may dredge up quite a bit. (The hospital I’m at was on the front lines that day, so there are plenty of reminders there, too.)
