Old Tropicana

Tropicana, the orange juice company, recently revamped their packaging. Customers hated the new design (me included). So they’re reverting to the old design. Yay! [via kottke]

I didn’t even realize that big orange geometric shape on the new packaging was supposed to be part of a glass until recently. When all you see the front of a bunch of cartons lined up next to each other, it just looks abstract.

  1. I kinda liked it, but the packaging of product generally doesn’t have any effect on me.

If, for example, the design featured a picture of Hitler drowning kittens in orange juice, then I would probably not purchase it. OK, yes I would, but just for the kitsch value.

But I buy OJ based on what’s on sale, not what’s on the package.
