Weird fact of the day as the U.S. Senate goes through its vote-a-rama of roll calls: out of the 100 current U.S. senators, 16 of them have last names beginning with B and 12 have last names beginning with C. So two out of twenty-six letters of the alphabet cover more than a quarter of U.S. senators. No idea why that is.
I feel like we need a body of congress with equal representation based on letters.
The only question is whether we base it on first letter only, or on sum of letters.
I’m fairly sure Glenn Beck can come up with a humorously alarming explanation for this.
Interesting. Out of the 100 most common surnames, 17 of them begin with B or C… but most of those are in the 51-100 grouping as opposed to the first half. Some states have alphabetical ballots in party primaries, I think- maybe that’s a factor?
